The trend in Modern application design focuses not only on a Rich Graphical user interface, but also the API (REST-API). This API serves as the data source for the application, and also a means for integrating different applications within an enterprise. We are currently moving towards an agile and flexible architecture, where the use of JDBC/ODBC connections is not the standard way of connecting to the database anymore. Then how do we do it? the answer is REST APIs. Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) offers more easy way to connect to the database without using JDBC/ODBC connections, but by using REST API. This allows the application server to connect to the data source only via REST calls and then respond back to the users.
